Actually, it isn't that big of a deal for me because I already know fluent Japanese so the hardest part about Chinese (the writing system) wouldn't be that much of a difficulty to switch over to. Chinese will actually be my the fourth language I learn after Japanese, German, and Russian (hehe... it seems I have become an old monster before long, oh where the years go... ) As for you, I think you should definitely jump into learning Chinese if your heart desires it. You're still young, I assume you have lots of time you can devote to (how I wish I did too!) Trust me, future you will really thank you if you learn it. The years will pass regardless, but if you just spend an hour a day learning it, when two years will have passed, you will have known a very useful language that might even help you later in your life! So I say go ahead! (Be sure to focus on speaking/listening alongside reading if you do.)

senior is truly intelligent and knowledgeable... this moon takes you as a role model. actually i had these thoughts since i first read RI. ahhhhh these forgotten aspirations of mine.. from a raging forest to the now dying embers are once again rekindled and revived.. senior's past accomplishments echo eternally in my body and mind.. if senior doesn't mind me asking how did you manage to learn new languages properly? did you take some venerable's classes or have you reached such high accomplishments solely through the dao of google translate?

I learned all three myself. Key is consistency—you gotta dedicate some time, no matter how little, to bettering your grasp of the target language, be it through immersion or vocabulary grind, you just need to make sure your brain isn't losing the folds it develops for the language. Because honestly language learning isn't that hard if you just keep immersing yourself in it; our brains are made to comprehend language as easily as possible. The golden formula I follow for every language I learn is Learn Alphabet (if it is a phonetic language) > Learn Grammar > Memorise basic words (auxillary verbs, prepositions, pronouns, etc.) > Hop right into a work of that language that you want to read (provided it doesn't have difficult prose) and try brute forcing it by copy-pasting every sentence into google translate, then noting down and memorising every new word you encounter > After I've memorised decent amount of vocab, I start watching media in that language with the same language's subs.

You truly have life experience and my goodness you know 3 languages which include japanese.do you watch anime without subtitles? My god that feeling would be out of this world wouldn't it . And I wish you best in your endeavour to learn chinese.hope u succeed

I used to watch them without subs yeah, I even joined a group that adds/writes subs for seasonal anime at one time. But I don't really watch anime anymore unless any of the seasonals catch my eye, since I feel like I've exhausted all the good ones worth watching haha. Last anime I watched was probably Apothecary Diaries which was okay ig, nothing special.
