Summary

In this latest work by Lord of the Mysteries author, Cuttlefish That Loves Diving, be prepared for a well-thought out and detailed apocalyptic, cyberpunk world with a setting superseding Lord of the Mysteries!

Our protagonist, Shang Jianyao, is crazy—literally crazy, at least that’s what the doctors said. Living in a huge, underground building of Pangu Biology, one of the few remaining factions in this apocalyptic wasteland known as the Ashlands, he acts in unfathomable ways that’s head-scratching, comical, and shrewd. So is he really crazy? Probably.

He has a grand dream: to save all of humanity.

Intricately tied to this dream is something everyone in the Ashlands believes in: Deep in a particular ruin buried away by danger and famine, a path leading to a new world awaits. To step into the new world, one only needs to find a special key and open that certain door.

There, the land is bountiful, as if milk and honey flows freely.

The sunlight is dazzling, as if all coldness and darkness are washed away.

The people will no longer have to face desolation, monsters, infections, mutations, and all kinds of dangers.

There, children are joyous, adults are happy, everything is fine as they are supposed to be.

Every Antiquarian, Ruin Hunter, and Historian roaming the Ashlands knows: That’s the New World.

This is the 4th CF book I've read after LOTM, TOMA and COI. I've read the whole chapter and I'll give you my review: 1. The book has standards similar to LOTM in the context of writing and is obviously much better than ToMa 2. The power system in this book is as interesting as one would expect from CF, and I honestly fell in love with the more grounded power system than LOTM. In addition to superpowers, almost all of the action in this book uses firearms (some of you may feel bored about this, but I really like the concept of gun being the main choice in conflict). 3. The MC on the book is unique in terms of writing. Unlike the lampooner Klein, our MC thoughts has never “written” so sometimes it make us wonder what tf our MC think. Lmao 4th. The ending of this novel is very satisfying, honestly I prefer this ending sequence to the other three novels. 5. The only Critisim i found is how this novel often double or even triple explain thing that we know. PR: 9/10 For all humanity!!

Only a few chapters in but I realize how similar this all is to fallout 4 with very similar factions, settlements and cities. Pangu biology is basically the institute. Almost fallout 4 but with an actual good story.

I love LoTM and ToMA. Sadly I fumbled at reading COI twice. So could anyone please tell me if this is good in comparison to the other books?

The world building is as good as one would expect from cuttlefish and the dark comedy will keep everything together. the characters are also very well defined. The mane cast are puppets of fate to a large extent Also their actions are more than half of the times driven by psychological problems or an outstanding and unrealistic sence of morality that many people won't like. But if you want my personal opinion, now that I'm in chapter 777 I am extremely happy I read this far. I loved the newest revelations and I'm dying to see how this will end.

To be honest I am currently thinking of maybe waiting a bit to continue. I'm at chap. 33 and it still feels a bit depressing to read. I love CFs works of Lotm, amd this has been sort of riding on his reputation for me. Maybe I will wait a few days and see how much I miss it. Because it feels like I know a lot of lore about the bad state of the world they are in, but I see no reason why I should care? Sounds mean, but so far I haven't really connected to a any character yet, seeing as even though Shang Jiang is being focused from the perspective, the only funny thing so far is his carziness, which is as sad as it is funny to me.. Anyways, I've rambled on for long enough, have a great day peoples~

For them the 2 diety is special in their believe. Because master Zhuang is the first Budha and subhti is the current Budha. They choose to follow the teaching of one of them but still respect the others
